The Walk Of Prayer – The Collection

The Walk is a simple but powerful form of engagement with God that combines verses of scripture with movement in a way similar to the Stations of the Cross.

The Walk was first developed by the Rev. Alan Leach.

Additional Walks have been developed by a number of people.

These Walks of Prayer may be used anywhere. The key is asking the Holy Spirit to lead you.

The Walk may be done by an individual as a form of personal meditation or by a group. In the group setting some time is spent in corporate preparation and then individuals go out alone. Upon completion of the Walk, the group gathers again to share how they have encountered God. The Walk has proven to be a wonderful way for people to encounter Jesus Christ and grow in prayer.

These prayer exercises, based on scripture, may be used any where, and may be used by the Holy Spirit to lead one into profound encounters with God the Father and the Son.

The Walk combines scripture with movement. One lingers on each step for as long as the Lord speaks. Change place, even if it just a few feet, when you are led to go to the next step.

Following is a list of WALKs that were developed for use at the Community of the Cross but may be used anywhere. They all center on growing in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and being equipped by the Holy Spirit to be his witness.

Please feel free to download these Walks and use them. We grant you permission to use them as led by the Holy Spirit to grow people in the work of prayer. If the Lord should inspire you to write new Walks and you would like to share them with us please email them to Mary Ellen Conners.
