This prayer guide allows you to seek after the baptism of the Holy Spirit so we may be empowered to be witnesses to Jesus.
Jesus said,
“…For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Directions: Linger on each verse for as long as the Holy Spirit invites you to, when He guides you to go to the next verse or the next step, change your physical location.
First Step: Lord Jesus, “Speak to me about the promise of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 1:4-5 – On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 1:8—“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Second Step: Lord Jesus Christ, “Is this promise for me?”
Acts 2:38-39— Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off– for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
Third Step: Jesus, “How are you sending me?”
John 20:19-21— After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the
Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
Fourth Step: Surrender to Jesus.
Matthew 16:24—“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
Fifth Step: Repentance from sin.
Acts 2:38— “Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Sixth Step: Definitely Ask.
Luke 11:13— “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your
Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Seventh Step: Receive in Faith.
Galatians 3:13-14— “Does He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by work of the law, or by hearing with faith?”
Eighth Step: Obey the Holy Spirit.
Acts 5:32— “And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”
