Description
This questionnaire does not include all of the spiritual gifts mentioned in the Bible.
It covers only the seven spiritual motivations mentioned by the Apostle Paul necessary for Christians to function in community: prophecy, serving, teaching/research, encouraging, giving, mercy, and leadership/administration. (Romans 12:6-8).
Like physical DNA, every person is given by God a mixture of these seven motivations at birth in order for community to thrive.
Also like physical DNA, this motivational DNA mix gives to each one a different motivational “finger print”.
For Paul, these motivations are redeemed and transformed by the Holy Spirit, and can be called “Spiritual DNA” to be used to create Christian community, which he calls “The Body of Christ.” (Romans 12:5).
The variety of these spiritual DNA motivations, distributed uniquely to each Christian, makes possible a variety of functions within small groups, church, home, school, work, and beyond, to build the Kingdom of God.
God apparently designed these strengths and weaknesses so that we need to work together as ‘The Body of Christ”, assisting God in building His Kingdom “on earth as it is in Heaven”.
Other spiritual gift inventories can help you discover additional spiritual gifts mentioned elsewhere in the Bible.
It is important to realize that no two individuals have an identical style of ministry. This questionnaire is intended only as a means of helping you discover your own gifts. Avoid applying the characteristics too rigidly.
This questionnaire should not be used alone, but only in the context of a group dealing with spiritual gifts where there is opportunity for discussion, group interaction, and affirmation.
These are used as part of the Dunamis Project 2: In the Spirit’s Power
