As part of PRMI‘s desire to equip upcoming generations to experience the empowering work of the Holy Spirit, we are delighted to announce the launch of “Empowered: Christian Family Camp”
This will be a new Dunamis series designed especially for families. Instead of twice a year, we will meet each summer around the same time for the next six years, working our way through all six Dunamis retreats.
This summer’s camp will center around Gateways to Empowered Ministry, our core teaching on the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
Children ages 5-12 will have their own teaching and equipping sessions, led by Rev. John and Nancy Van Stone (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) and Brenda Walker (Port Lucie, FL).
We will also provide loving and Christ-centered childcare for children younger than five. Teens are welcome to join in the ‘adult’ teaching sessions. An additional new feature this year will be the worldview teaching offered online, which adult participants will be able to watch prior to arriving.
The event begins on Tuesday morning, July 11, at 10:00 o’clock. The leadership team is hosting an optional ‘welcome’ cookout on Monday evening at the Community of the Cross.
“Our desire is to see families growing together in a deeper love and experience of Jesus Christ through the power and work of the Holy Spirit. Through teaching, activities, and practices that families can take back home, we look forward to watching the Spirit transform and strengthen one another in ways that will shape the contexts we are going back into – be it church, home, work, or school.” said Rev. Josh Modrzynski, the event’s director.
In addition to teaching and worship, Empowered will offer opportunities for families to have some solo time together as well as private prayer ministry.
“Over the years, deep and lasting bonds of koinonia have formed around Dunamis communities, as participants journey through the six retreats together. It is our hope to ‘birth’ a new community of young families who can encourage, support and pray for each other — to plant a new community within the PRMI family, “ said Rev. Susan Finck, part of the Empowered leadership team.
“Many of us who went through the original Dunamis series at Lake George are still very dear friends, and I know this is true for other groups around the country. It is my hope to create a ‘container’ that’s accessible for busy families where perhaps the Lord can weave together another expression of this dear community…”
The leadership team has researched various lodging options for camping, and the PRMI office can provide a list of local hotels in the area. Because this event occurs in the tourism season this summer, we want to encourage people to book their camping spots or hotels as soon as possible.
We would love to see young married couples join us for this retreat, as well as singles and families with children. Because of the amount of planning for staff and curriculum, our registration deadline is May 25th, 2018.
