What happens at your congregation at Pentecost?

What about in your own life? Often it is just another Sunday.

It is essential that we not just celebrate Pentecost as the “birthday of the Church” but that we pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Church of Jesus Christ and on ourselves so that we may be empowered to be witnesses to Jesus and gifted to do Jesus’ work in the world.

Pentecost: Baptism of the Spirit?

To grow the Church of Jesus Christ, to bring the good news of the Gospel of Jesus to the ends of the earth, to see our children and grandchildren into the Kingdom of God, and to be able to participate ourselves requires the empowerment of the Holy Spirit as promised to us by Jesus Christ.

Praying for Pentecost – a video by Dr. Brad Long

Acts 1:4-5 – On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 1:8—“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Make these promises a reality this Pentecost by praying for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon yourself, all you love, and your congregation.

In this time of great opportunities for good or evil in the world and huge challenges facing the Church and many of us individually, we may, and indeed must, pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon us for the power and gifts needed to joyfully and effectively do the work that Jesus Christ has called each of us to.

PRMI is committed to getting this teaching on the Holy Spirit into mainline congregations and to all Christians so that each Christian may find his or her place in the Kingdom of God.
