Holy Spirit, Stir up a Great Movement of Prayer
Jonathan Edward’s, “Thoughts on the Revival in New England”, 1740 points to God’s basic method of involving us in the great work of Advancing the Kingdom of Jesus Christ:
“It is God’s will through His wonderful grace, that the prayers of His saints should be one of the great principal means of carrying on the designs of Christ’s kingdom in the world.
“When God has something very great to accomplish for His church, it is His will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of His people; as is manifest by Ezekiel 36:37.”
Prayer Points
- Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this work of “extraordinary prayer” so that God will accomplish His extraordinary plans and purposes in our local congregations, and in the world Church.
We are in a war requiring certain types of personnel for engaging with Jesus Christ in His operations. The Old Testament battle of Israel with the Amalekites provides guidance about the personnel needed for this work of prayer.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to raise up men and women anointed and well equipped for the three different aspects of intercession: the call to intercessory prayer itself- the Moses work, the Aaron work of supporting the intercessors and the Hur work of getting intelligence and guidance.
- Pray also for God to raise up the Joshua workers through whom He may answer the prayers of the intercessors.
- Ask the Lord to raise up within PRMI’s extended worldwide family, members of the DFI who are called to the work of intercessory prayer.
