WEEK 1: DAY 1

Praying for the Baptism and Infilling with the Holy Spirit

On one occasion, while Jesus was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.   For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

… But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:4-5, 8

The “baptism with the Holy Spirit” is the initiation into the empowering, gifting work of the Holy Spirit which is described in Acts 1:8 as the Holy Spirit coming upon a person and later described as being filled with the Holy Spirit.

This is not just to receive any particular gift such as tongues or prophecy but to receive the spiritual equipping needed to join in the great dance of cooperating with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in their Kingdom work.
