“As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning. . . . So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.” (Exodus 17:11 and 13)
A couple weeks ago, I attended the annual conference of Dunamis Fellowship Canada (DFC). (See MWS article by Barb Ferrier.) It was an awesome time of fellowship and learning. Especially, I enjoyed Brad Long’s teaching on the Kingdom –advancing collaboration between Joshua and Moses (Exodus 17:8-13). Joshua did the work of battle. Moses did the work of prayer.
After Brad’s teaching, I received prayer ministry. During that time, I clearly heard the Lord say to me, “You need to be more engaged in the work of prayer for provision.” I was not surprised by the directive. While I do spend time in prayer about PRMI receiving God’s gifts, I tend to favor the work of making the human request (which I hope is Spirit-led).
A few days after the DFC event, I received the following email from a PRMI prayer warrior—Heather—in the UK. Heather wrote,
“John and I were praying together on Monday and spent some time praying for PRMI resources. As we did so I kept hearing keep looking up. This was particularly in the context of praying for donations to come, and of course for the donors. There was a sense that we focus on the donations and the donors but we should be looking up at the one who prompts the donors and releases the finances. This could be a word for all of us on the Resources Prayer Team, but I felt it was particularly for you as you are more directly concerned with seeking funding for PRMI.”
Okay, Lord, I get the message!
You may wonder why I am writing this article rather than solely praying. I have to split my time between “Joshua work” and “Moses work.” Earlier today, I engaged in prayer for provision. Now, I will step into the role of doing. Later, I will step back and enjoy watching the Lord do His work. He is excellent at fund development!
It is wonderful to see Him accomplish His purposes through you. Really, the most favorite part of my job is to see God move and provide the required resources independent of my effort. He does this over and over again.
He does require cooperation from His children—you and me. Every one of us is called to prayer and action to advance His Kingdom.
Is He calling you to pray for PRMI’s finances today? If yes, praise the Lord! Is He calling you to invest in PRMI today? Again, praise Him!
The Lord is very generous with PRMI. He encourages PRMI donors to give gifts of all sizes so His Kingdom may advance. Every gift is important to His plan. To Him be all praise!
Thank you for being obedient in prayer—for joining me and others in looking up. We must remember James 4:2b,“You do not have because you do not ask”. If the Lord speaks to you and encourages you to forward me a word about His provision, please contact me at gary@prmi.org.
Thank you for being obedient in giving financially. Your faithfulness enables God’s wonderful provision to PRMI. His plan will be achieved.
