Intercessors In Residence PDF Print E-mail

We are launching the new Intercessors in Residence program at the Community of the Cross (CoC).

Is the Holy Spirit calling you to be a part of this strategic form of prayer?

Encountering Jesus Christ and Joining the Dance of Cooperating with Holy Spirit in Advancing the Kingdom of God

“It is God’s will through His wonderful grace, that the prayers of His saints should be one of the great principal means of carrying on the designs of Christ’s kingdom in the world.

“When God has something very great to accomplish for His church, it is His will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of His people; as is manifest by Ezekiel 36:37.

“And it is revealed that, when God is about to accomplish great things for His church, He will begin by remarkably pouring out the spirit of grace and supplication (see Zechariah 12:10).” Jonathan Edwards, Thoughts on the Revival in New England - 1740

The Holy Spirit is raising up intercessors at the Community of the Cross and around the world in order to do this "extraordinary prayer" that is the prelude to God's great work on earth. In this time of great opportunity for the Gospel as well as for the formation of demonic strongholds, will you say, "yes!" to preparing for the great blessings of God for the Church and the world?

Be a part of a Waterfall of Prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit for revival and advancing the Gospel to the ends of the earth

A. The Goals for the Participants

The Intercessors in Residence Program at the
Community of the Cross

  • Provides you a way to grow in fellowship with Jesus Christ and with other intercessors.
  • Grow in the work of prayer empowered by the Holy Spirit by being mentored by other intercessors and by actually engaging in intercession in the context of a praying community.
  • In the set-apart land of the Community of the Cross, amid the rivers and mountains of Western North Carolina, you have the space for personal prayer preparation and listening to God.
  • Join in the worldwide movement of the Holy Spirit of growing the Church and advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.
  • Be equipped and supported in the work of “prayer that shapes the future” which is the purpose of the Community of the Cross prayer work.
  • Mobilizing, equipping and deploying intercessors for the Tower Project.

B. How to join in the work of intercession at the Community of the Cross

1. Apply to be an intercessor in residence - and indicate dates you would be able to be onsite. You may apply to come as an individual or as a team for one day up to forty days. Your application should be directed to Mary Ellen Conners, CoC Intercessory Prayer Coordinator. Email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , fax to PRMI at 828-669-4880 or mail to PRMI, P.O. Box 429, Black Mountain, NC 28711

2. A "Prayer Director" will be assigned to you for your stay at the CoC to assist in the work of prayer and to help you or your team grow in this work. (Prayer Directors are members of the DFI.) To serve as a Prayer Director at the CoC is by invitation. If you are Interested in this role contact Mary Ellen Conners, CoC Intercessory Prayer Coordinator.

3. To be an "Intercessor in Residence” is equivalent to taking part in a PRMI Mission Trip so:

You will need to raise prayer support to cover you as you are stepping into this frontline work. (We can help you do this.)

You will also need to raise financial support to be able to cover your transportation expenses, accommodations, and food while serving as an intercessor on this mission.

An offering will be received to grow the Intercessors in Residence Program at the CoC and to extend PRMI's prayer work around the world.

4. The CoC is not a conference center or a hotel; there is no hired hospitality staff. Rather, as a part of the work of prayer, like the early church in Acts, all join in the work of keeping the community together (this includes food preparation and cleaning the facility).

5. The work of prayer will take place at the CoC and may be inside the main building. However, depending on activities scheduled at the COC, you may be praying outside on the trails and in the prayer places around the COC. Because we are in the process of building the accommodations at the CoC, intercessors will be given information about accommodations in the area - local homes, hotels and bed and breakfasts.

When at the CoC, you will be provided a pattern of prayer that involves all the aspects of prayer, including personal preparation and intercession as led by the Holy Spirit. You will also be free to engage in this work as the Holy Spirit leads you. The role of the “Prayer Director” will be to discern with you your work of prayer while at the CoC.

C. Accommodations and Meals

We are at the beginning stages of building the facilities at the Community of the Cross (CoC). All the prayer work will take place in the Log House (as available) and on the trails and prayer places on the land.

Meals will be prepared by the intercessors in residence at the Log House. Whenever possible, we will be glad to accommodate “Prayer Directors” and “Intercessors in Residence” at the Log House overnight.

There are people in our community who have agreed to host in their homes or “prophet chambers” those who are called to the CoC for the work of prayer. (These are within 10 – 15 minutes of the CoC). You will need to be in touch with the office to see if such a place is available when you are able to come.

There is no charge for staying at the CoC Log House or in people’s homes but gifts are needed and appreciated to sustain this program.

Also, within 10 minutes of the CoC there a number of hotels and bed and breakfasts in various price ranges.
